At Fraser Coast Regional Council our people are our most important asset and central to achieving our purpose of Building Better Communities Together.
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for a motivated IT Infrastructure Officer to join Council’s infrastructure team and help keep our core technology environment running at its best. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the availability, performance and security of our network, storage, virtualisation, cloud services, cyber security, audio‑visual systems, M365 and CCTV.
Your initial focus will be on designing, implementing and maintaining Cisco network infrastructure across Council sites. If you’ve worked with switches, routers, firewalls, ISR appliances, VPN solutions, ISE or Catalyst Center, you’ll feel right at home. A CCNA certification would be a great advantage (but not essential).
You'll also be part of a crucial team in completing IT infrastructure fitout during relocation to our new, modern office opening in August.
What your day will look like:
- Maintain the availability, performance and security of Council’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud environments and corporate systems.
- Administer the lifecycle of infrastructure assets by assisting with investigation, ordering, configuration, testing, installation, maintenance, support and disposal.
- Support cyber security activities, including patching, promoting awareness programs and ensuring adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning through testing, documentation and readiness activities.
- Support delivery of IT infrastructure projects by developing business cases, project plans, coordination of tasks, testing and providing stakeholder support.
- Liaise with vendors to support issue resolution, system availability and procurement processes in line with Council requirements.
- Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, asset registers, change records and reports, and provide high-quality customer‑focused technical support and advice to users.

What you’ll need for success:
- Demonstrated capability to administer and support Windows‑based IT environments, including servers, networks, cloud infrastructure and Microsoft 365, by applying established procedures, technical standards and operational frameworks to maintain system availability and performance.
- Experience supporting corporate systems, databases and infrastructure tools, with the ability to interpret and apply IT policies, procedures, security requirements and technical standards.
- Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a small technical team, engage constructively with stakeholders, and provide clear, accurate technical advice, guidance and user training.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to investigate issues and recommend solutions, and plan, prioritise and document work to meet operational timeframes and service expectations.
What’s nice to have:
- Additional qualifications in an Information Technology field (such as CCNA etc.)
We understand that not all candidates will meet every selection criterion. If you have the right approach and the ability to contribute effectively, we welcome your application.
