L.S Silva Services Pty Ltd is a Sydney-based painting and decoration business delivering high-quality painting services across residential, commercial and maintenance projects throughout New South Wales.
Due to continued business growth and the ongoing delivery of multiple concurrent projects, we are seeking an experienced Painting & Decorating Tradesperson who can both perform advanced trade work and take day-to-day supervision of our painting work on site.
Position Summary
This is a hands-on trade role with an integrated site-supervision responsibility. The successful applicant will spend the majority of their time performing skilled painting and decorating work, while also coordinating other painters and subcontractors on site, controlling quality, and ensuring each project is completed safely and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces and apply paints, varnishes, protective coatings, sealants and decorative finishes to residential and commercial properties.
- Select, mix and match paints and finishes, and determine the correct preparation and coating system for each surface.
- Carry out advanced painting, decorating and surface preparation work using specialist equipment and techniques.
- Supervise and coordinate other painters and subcontractors on site, allocating and sequencing tasks to meet project timelines.
- Inspect completed work, conduct on-site quality control, and identify and rectify defects.
- Estimate material quantities and manage on-site material usage and wastage.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and the Director on site progress and completion.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and all workplace health and safety requirements on site.
- Mentor and support junior painters and labourers.
- Identify and resolve technical painting and coating issues.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a painter across residential and commercial projects.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality finishes across varied surfaces and environments.
- Experience supervising or coordinating other painters or subcontractors on site.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices in the painting trade.
- Ability to read plans and specifications.
- Strong communication and reliability.
- Current White Card.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Ability to travel between project sites within Sydney and surrounding areas.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent trade qualification.
- Experience with spray application systems and protective coatings.
- Experience in remedial painting and waterproofing systems.
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licence.
- First Aid Certificate.
