Due to continued business growth, increasing project demand and the ongoing management of multiple concurrent projects, we are seeking an experienced Painting & Decorating Project Supervisor to join our team.
The successful applicant will play a key role in overseeing painting operations, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring quality control, maintaining client satisfaction and supporting the delivery of projects from commencement through to completion.
Position Summary
The Painting & Decorating Project Supervisor will be responsible for managing painting and decorating projects while also performing advanced trade duties when required.
This position requires a highly experienced professional capable of supervising teams, coordinating subcontractors, monitoring project progress and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and supervise residential, commercial and maintenance painting projects.
- Coordinate and oversee painting teams and subcontractors across multiple sites.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets and resource allocation.
- Conduct site inspections and quality assurance assessments.
- Prepare and review project schedules and work programs.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and site managers.
- Inspect surfaces and determine appropriate preparation and coating systems.
- Carry out advanced painting, decorating and surface preparation work when required.
- Apply paints, protective coatings, sealants and decorative finishes using specialist equipment and techniques.
- Estimate labour, material and equipment requirements.
- Monitor project costs and assist management with operational planning.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and workplace safety regulations.
- Prepare site reports, progress reports and completion documentation.
- Mentor and support junior painters and labourers.
- Identify and resolve technical painting and coating issues.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 4 years' experience in painting and decorating.
- Demonstrated experience managing or supervising multiple painting projects.
- Strong knowledge of residential, commercial and maintenance painting systems.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and project teams.
- Ability to read plans, specifications and technical documents.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Current White Card.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Ability to travel between project sites within Sydney and surrounding areas.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent trade qualification.
- Experience in remedial painting and waterproofing systems.
- Experience with spray application systems and protective coatings.
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licence.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Experience using project management software and reporting systems.
