About the Opportunity
Southern Cross Institute (SCI) is seeking to employ a dedicated Accountant to join the finance team as soon as possible. The position is full time and covers business hours between 8:30am - 5:30pm.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Preparing financial reports such as Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, month-end reporting, and cost accounting reports for the Board of Directors and management.
- Assisting in formulating budgetary and accounting policies.
- Managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable daily within the accounting system.
- Recording month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments using MYOB.
- Performing bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and Prepaid Expense accounts.
- Assisting in preparing budgets and forecasts.
- Producing management reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly basis.
- Preparing documents for lodgement of BAS.
- Assisting with Company Tax Return preparation.
- Lodgement of NSW Payroll Tax, and Superannuation returns.
- Managing cash flow and financial risk.
- Preparing documentation for audit processes.
- Conducting financial investigations and audits and preparing related reports.
- Assisting with overall corporate strategy, providing advice to help reduce business costs.
- Preparing monthly GST reports.
- Preparing and processing reports to the ATO through Single Touch Payroll (STP).
- Collaborating with management on drafting new accounting policies and business budgets.
- Maintaining accurate payroll data and ensuring correct award rates are updated and paid when changes occur.
What We Are Looking For:
- A completed relevant degree in accounting or finance.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong logical thinking and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and reliability to ensure data accuracy.
- Proficiency with Excel and MYOB.
