THE ROLE
The Senior Solicitor will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to Child Protection, for matters that are not yet subject to an application to the Children's Court as well as providing court related advice and support to the Office of Professional Practice (OPP) more broadly and assisting the Court Practice Advice and Support (CPAS) team in meeting its objectives. The successful applicant must be able to work collaboratively and in partnership with Legal Services Branch, the Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office and the OPP in the Community Operations and Practice Leadership Division. Providing court related professional development to Child Protection is also one of the key responsibilities. The role reports to Special Counsel, Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office but the role is embedded in the Community Operations Practice Leadership Division.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide authoritative advice on complex legal and practice issues and provide high level briefings and correspondence.
- Collaborate with departmental colleagues to deliver high quality client focused legal services in relation to complex and sensitive matters.
- Lead and drive effective liaison with solicitors, barristers, court/tribunal staff, other government departments and agencies, and professional bodies in relation to a wide range of complex legal and policy issues.
