Your new role:
As an Emergency Department Administration Officer, you will provide essential administrative support to medical staff, patients and families while helping deliver safe, efficient and compassionate healthcare services by:
Supporting the registration, admission, transfer and discharge processes for patients using hospital information systems including FirstNet and HBCIS.
Providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for patients, families, visitors and healthcare partners.
Supporting medical and nursing teams with a range of administrative tasks to ensure smooth Emergency Department operations.
Completing patient interviews, verifying information and accurately maintaining confidential records.
Coordinating patient movements, documentation and administrative requirements across the patient journey.
Working collaboratively within a diverse multidisciplinary team while delivering respectful and patient-focused service.
Managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail.
About you:
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable administration professional who can support a busy Emergency Department environment with strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centred care by:
Demonstrating strong administrative skills and experience with office procedures and systems.
Communicating effectively with patients, families, clinicians and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
Providing a high level of customer service with empathy, respect and professionalism.
Managing priorities effectively and remaining flexible in response to changing departmental needs.
Demonstrating strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately maintain records and complete documentation.
Using initiative, problem-solving skills and sound judgement to achieve positive outcomes.
Demonstrating confidence with computer systems and administrative technology.

We offer our staff and students extensive support and training in most medical specialties. As a teaching hospital, we help train future health care professionals and participate in research through strong partnerships with Queensland's leading medical schools, universities, and TAFE Queensland.
Our services will continue to grow as we build bigger and better facilities to support the community. By 2027, we'll have more beds and 5 more birthing suites as part of the Logan Hospital expansion.
