We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and reliable Full-Time Cook to join our kitchen crew and help deliver premium dining experiences.
Position Summary
As a Full-Time Cook, you will report directly to the Owner/Head Chef and work closely with our kitchen team to prepare, season, and cook high-quality meals in our dining and catering establishment. You will play a vital role in maintaining kitchen hygiene, meeting specific dietary requirements, and ensuring consistent food quality.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare, season, and cook food according to established menu specifications and recipes.
- Quality & Examination: Examine foodstuffs closely to ensure top-tier quality and freshness.
- Equipment & Temperature Regulation: Safely operate and regulate the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
- Plating & Portioning: Portion food efficiently, place it neatly on plates, and add gravies, sauces, or garnishes.
- Dietary Requirements: Prepare specialized food items to meet various dietary requirements and special requests.
- Food Storage: Ensure all food items are properly stored in temperature-controlled facilities.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Strictly maintain top-tier food safety practices, kitchen hygiene, and deep cleaning schedules.
- Operations Support: May assist with planning menus, estimating food requirements, and training apprentices or junior kitchen staff.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience working as a Cook or Line Cook in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, bistro, or club environment.
- Technical Skills: Confident culinary skills including proper knife handling, meat/seafood preparation, and hot line cooking methods.
- Certifications: Relevant commercial cookery qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Commercial Cookery) and a current Food Safety Supervisor certificate are highly desirable.
- Availability: Full-time flexibility is required. You must be available to work a rotating roster that includes nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Soft Skills: Strong teamwork mindset, great communication skills, and the stamina to thrive under high-pressure service periods.
