Primary objective
The Engineering Services Works Officer provides administrative and receptionist support to the Engineering Services team
at Tennant Creek Hospital (TCH).
Context statement
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure – Hospital Engineering Services provide 24/7 multi-disciplinary support to
Tennant Creek Hospital. The team ensures Repairs and Maintenance is completed in accordance with legislative, legal, and
Australian Standards requirements, ensuring compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS)
Standards and the hospital accreditation cycle.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Carry out face to face, telephone, or email reception duties for Engineering Services TCH for interactions with TCH staff,
contractors and the public.
2. Use a range of office equipment, technology and computer applications including Microsoft Office software applications
including Outlook, Word, Excel, EIMS, TRIPS, TRM or other building asset maintenance software.
3. Maintain filing systems including the receipt, sorting, filing and dispatch of correspondence.
4. Assist in payment of invoices through NTG Pay.
5. Prepare work request sheets on a maintenance computer system to enable staff and contractors to carry out an efficient
service for Engineering Services clients.
6. Maintain accurate records of keys and contractor passes daily.
7. Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the Work Health Act, Workplace Health and Safety Regulations,
Australian Standards and Hospital codes and guidelines as required to perform this job.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Good oral and written communication skills to interact effectively in a professional and courteous manner and build and
maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated experience with the use of computer applications including email, calendar, word processing, databases
and spreadsheets.
3. Good organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining
high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgement, tact and discretion in dealing with colleagues, clients and
other stakeholders.
5. Ability to manage and coordinate information to assist with resource allocation functions.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to achieve timely outcomes in a busy work environment.
Desirable
1. Previous administrative experience in a closely regulated and/or restrictive environment such as a medical facility.
