Assistant Manager – IDK Coffee
Location: Townsville, QLD
Hours: Part-Time (30–34 hours per week)
Availability: Monday–Saturday
IDK Coffee is looking for an experienced hospitality professional ready to take the next step into a leadership role.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, maintaining high standards, and helping a café run smoothly day-to-day. You'll work closely with the owners and team to ensure exceptional customer service, efficient operations, and a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day café operations
Lead by example and maintain excellent customer service standards
Manage and monitor stock levels
Complete and submit supplier orders
Maintain food safety, cleanliness and compliance standards
Assist with rostering and team coordination
Train, support and develop team members
Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed correctly
Monitor wastage, ordering and operational efficiency
Help identify and implement improvements to systems and processes
Troubleshoot issues and make decisions independently when required

Previous café, hospitality or leadership experience
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to work calmly under pressure
Confidence leading a team and maintaining standards
Excellent communication skills
A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
Someone who takes pride in their work and notices what needs doing without being asked

Pay:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience and aligned with the relevant Hospitality Industry Award.

Experience:
- Supervising: 1 year (Preferred)
- Barista: 1 year (Required)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Handling Certificate (Required)
