Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our anaesthetic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled nurse to contribute to our operating theatre services, providing expert care to patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Anaesthetics, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of anaesthetic services. You will act as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for your colleagues, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and upholding the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide advanced clinical care and assessment to patients requiring anaesthesia, across a range of surgical specialities.
Assist Anaesthetists with the administration and monitoring of anaesthesia.
Manage patient airways, ensure adequate ventilation, and monitor haemodynamic stability.
Act as a resource and mentor for junior nursing team members, facilitating their professional development.
Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures related to anaesthetic nursing.
Contribute to risk management and quality improvement activities within the operating theatre.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
Ensure compliance with all relevant professional, ethical, and legal standards.

Essential Requirements

Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Postgraduate qualification in Anaesthetic Nursing or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist in anaesthetic nursing.
Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Criteria

Participation in relevant professional organisations.
Experience in clinical education or preceptorship.
