Location: Perth
Our growing Perth Environment team is seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant to lead planning and approvals projects and deliver environmental impact assessments across the resources, renewables and infrastructure sectors in Western Australia. You will work on complex, multi-disciplinary projects, providing advice and leading approvals processes. Key services include due diligence, approval strategies, environmental and technical studies, compliance and auditing and environmental management. This role offers the opportunity to mentor environmental consultants and contribute technical expertise across a diverse project portfolio. You will also play a key role in technical review, capability development, and representing the business in industry forums. As part of our national network, you will collaborate with and learn from leading environmental practitioners across Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Scope, plan, manage and execute environmental assessment, planning, approvals, and environmental management projects, ensuring integrated outcomes and high quality delivery.
- Technical Delivery: Lead the planning approvals on projects, with a focus on high quality technical delivery to meet current and consider emerging regulatory requirements. Demonstrated experience working within the WA legislation and guidelines.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain a focus on delivering high quality project outcomes and enhancing client satisfaction.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, developing high quality proposals to secure new business.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven professional with 10 + years’ experience.
You will have:
- Qualifications in environmental science, planning, or related degree discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental impact assessment or planning and approvals (WA and resource experience preferred) – consulting experience is desirable
- Strong knowledge of environmental and planning legislation, regulations, standards and best practices
- Experience managing medium to large projects through the development spectrum, including managing timelines, budgets, and resourcing
- A strong professional network in WA across the resources, renewables, and/or infrastructure sectors
- Adaptability to undertake a range of technical work based on project requirements
- Interest and aptitude in working across multiple disciplines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain positive team and client relationships
- Organised, motivated and self-directed
