DeVINO Wine & Salumi — Phillip, ACT
Full-time | $80,000 + super, depending on experience
DeVINO Wine & Salumi is looking for a hands-on manager who is genuinely interested in building a career across retail, hospitality, wine, food and customer experience.
This is not a role for someone who simply wants to “mind the shop”. We are looking for someone reliable, switched on and commercially minded — someone who wants to take ownership, grow with the business, and help make DeVINO one of Canberra’s favourite wine, food and retail destinations.
About DeVINO
DeVINO is a wine bar, bottle shop and Italian deli based in Phillip. We offer a mix of retail wine, Italian food, tastings, events, wine club activity and warm hospitality.
We are a small, growing business, which means the right person will have real influence. You will work closely with the owners and be trusted with genuine responsibility as you prove yourself.
The Role
As Retail & Hospitality Manager, you will help run the day-to-day operation of the venue, including retail sales, customer service, stock presentation, simple food service, staff supervision, tastings, events and general venue standards.
This is a floor-based role. We are looking for someone who leads by example and is happy to be hands-on.

Venue & Retail Operations
- Open and close the venue to a high standard.
- Keep shelves, fridges, displays and tasting areas full, clean and well presented.
- Monitor stock levels, stock rotation, wastage, pricing and damaged products.
- Ensure the wine bar, bottle shop, deli area, toilets, storage areas and outdoor areas are always clean and customer-ready.
- Follow systems, checklists and daily routines.

- Support, train and supervise casual staff.
- Set clear expectations around customer service, cleaning, closing procedures, food safety and presentation.
- Help create a positive team culture where people take pride in their work.
- Assist with rosters and shift planning.
- Hold the team accountable in a fair and respectful way.
Wine, Food & Events
- Support weekly tastings, wine club activity, aperitivo nights and private functions.
- Learn and communicate basic tasting notes, food pairings and product stories.
- Assist with simple food service and maintain food handling standards.
- Bring ideas to improve displays, bundles, tastings, events and customer engagement.
Business Growth

- Take ownership of standards and help grow sales over time.
- Treat the business with care, attention and common sense.
