We are seeking an experienced ADABAS Database Administrator to manage, maintain and optimise critical mainframe database environments. This role is ideal for a technically strong DBA with extensive ADABAS and Natural experience who can ensure database performance, stability, security and recoverability.
Adelaide-based candidates are desirable; however, applicants from any Australian location can be accommodated.

Maintain, monitor and optimise ADABAS database environments.

Perform database backups, restores and recovery activities.

Plan and implement upgrades and maintenance for ADABAS, Natural, Software AG and related third-party products.

Ensure platforms remain at vendor-supported versions.

Apply patches and emergency fixes to maintain system security and stability.

Monitor database performance and undertake tuning and optimisation.

Use native utilities and third-party tools for database monitoring and administration.

Support disaster recovery testing and verify database recoverability.

Collaborate with Mainframe Systems Programmers to resolve performance and operational issues.

Maintain accurate technical and operational documentation.

Participate in a 24/7 on-call support roster.

At least five years of experience as an ADABAS Database Administrator.

Strong knowledge of ADABAS database structures, utilities and performance-tuning techniques.

Demonstrated experience with ADABAS backup, recovery and disaster recovery planning.

Experience administering and upgrading ADABAS, Natural and related Software AG products.

Knowledge of third-party database management and monitoring tools.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams.

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline—or equivalent professional experience.
