Overview and Objectives of the Position
The Student Learning Advisor works collaboratively with the Student Engagement and Success Manager, the Student Support and Experience, the Student and Academic Services and Academic teams at Taylors College to enable successful student progression to the University of Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Support and Wellbeing
Provide proactive, person-centred support to students, including case management, referrals, and intervention for at-risk students.

Participate in at-risk/intervention meetings in collaboration with Academic and Student Services teams.

Serve as a member of the Students At Risk Committee.

Provide individual consultations regarding academic performance and course advice, including College-led trigger reviews at mid-programme points to facilitate progression to the University (during term and non-term weeks).

Refer students to the Student Counsellor/Wellbeing Officer and other core professional services as appropriate.
2. Engagement and Experience Initiatives
Support and contribute to programs, activities, and strategies that build student connection, belonging, and engagement.

Support a range of student activities including: pre-arrival webinars, orientation, progression days, transition activities (administration), and scholarship opportunities.

Contribute to strategies and projects that support student retention and progression.

Events – coordinate and deliver progression events, including planning, logistics, and liaison with the University of Sydney to support smooth student transition and progression outcomes.

Coordinate and manage the Employability Skills program for students, including but not limited to High Achievers.

Run information sessions for all cohorts throughout their programs to ensure timely dissemination of information.
3. Scholarships
Coordinate scholarship processes and ensure eligible students receive timely, accurate support and communication.

Support eligible students with scholarship applications and queries.

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely communication and administration of scholarship processes.
4. Progression and Academic Monitoring
Monitor and report on student academic performance to support successful progression pathways.

Support and monitor programs, resources, and services that promote academic success and enable students to meet desired learning outcomes.

Report on student progress and outcomes to relevant committees.

Maintain and update the Moodle site for Student Success to ensure students have access to current and relevant resources.
5. Stakeholder Coordination
Work collaboratively with academics, student services teams, and external partners to resolve student issues and support positive outcomes.

Liaise with other College and Navitas colleagues through internal governance and UPA Communities of Practice on issues related to student academic progress and transition to College/University life.

Maintain awareness of the regulatory environment as it relates to student support and ensure compliance with external and internal policy frameworks.
