About the Role
United Refrigeration is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to join our Melbourne service team. The successful applicant will carry out the maintenance, servicing and repair of commercial refrigeration systems across hospitality, food service, healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical and other commercial environments. The role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out preventative maintenance and ensuring refrigeration systems operate safely and efficiently in accordance with Australian Standards. Our technicians work on a wide range of commercial refrigeration systems including commercial kitchens, bar display refrigeration, cool rooms, freezer rooms, ice machines, blast chillers/freezers, glycol systems, water chillers and other refrigerated equipment across the hospitality, healthcare, laboratory and pharmaceutical sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings, installation plans and manufacturer specifications to determine installation requirements and equipment locations
- Install, commission, service, maintain and repair commercial refrigeration systems and associated mechanical and electrical components/ equipment in accordance with technical specifications and Australian Standards.
- Measure, fabricate, cut, bend, braze, solder, weld and install refrigeration pipework and associated fittings.
- Install, repair and replace compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion devices, motors, fans, switches, gauges, valves, controllers and associated refrigeration equipment.
- Install, supports, pipework and refrigeration components using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Conduct pressure testing, leak detection and system commissioning to verify the integrity and performance of refrigeration system, including retrofitting of R404A refrigeration systems.
- Recover, evacuate and recharge refrigeration systems with the appropriate refrigerant in accordance with Australian Standards and environmental requirements
- Test-operate refrigeration equipment, monitor operating pressures and temperatures, and adjust system controls to ensure optimum performance.
- Diagnose refrigeration faults and carry out repairs, overhaul systems and replace defective components.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime and maximise system efficiency.
- Complete service reports, record faults, repairs undertaken and corrective actions.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with WHS requirements, environmental regulations and refrigerant handling legislation.
Key Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum one-year full time experience as a Refrigeration Mechanic.
- Experience servicing and repairing commercial refrigeration systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Current Refrigerant Handling Licence (ARCtick), or eligibility to obtain one.
- Electrical Disconnect Reconnect Licence or eligibility to obtain one
- Current driver's licence.
- White Card, or ability to obtain one.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
- Requires National Police Check, Working With Children Check, Flu Vaccination and Full Medical Examination or ability to obtain.
Qualification:
AQF Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, or an equivalent qualification. Applicants with at least three years of relevant industry experience in lieu of formal qualifications are also encouraged to apply
Pay: $95,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
