Primary objective
This position provides communication and marketing support and advice in accordance with Sanderson High School strategic
improvement plan and business priorities. Lead or take part in the development and management of marketing and
communications projects, strategies and communicating them to School external stakeholders promoting positive branding
of Sanderson High School in the wider community. Undertake ad hoc projects such as grant applications, seeking
sponsorship, and managing information and records to support school initiatives and operational priorities.
Context statement
Sanderson High School, is an established institution located in Darwin’s northern suburbs. It currently serves approximately
450 students in Years 7 to 10. The school’s feeder zone includes the suburbs of Anula, Karama, Malak, Northlakes and
Wulagi, as well as students from other areas, including those enrolled in the Intensive English program and ESL learners.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage the school’s marketing and communication materials, including creating content, developing, maintaining and
printing publications across digital formats to ensure accuracy and promote a positive image to the wider community.
This includes video production and photography.
2. Manage School events and marketing campaigns Including communication strategies, advertising, sponsorship and
promotion, as well as web publishing across the school website, newsletter and School Stream.
3. Work effectively within high performing teams and provide high-level day-to-day administrative support to the front
office, School Executive Team and teaching staff.
4. Contribute to the development and implementation of school marketing and communication policies, procedures and
processes.
5. Attend High school events outside regular hours to capture high-quality video and photographic content for publications,
promotional materials and social media.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage workloads, adjusting priorities to meet deadlines and
operate efficiently with minimum supervision.
2. Demonstrated high-level digital literacy, with experience creating professional digital, photography and video content,
and using office, web publishing and social media platforms including Canva, WordPress, Drupal or similar.
3. Demonstrated written communication skills and proven ability to write creatively, proofread and translate technical
information into plain English.
4. High level of oral communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to interact effectively with a variety of
clients and external stakeholders and the ability to work within a team.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in media, marketing or design.
2. Experience working within a senior school setting.
