A Construction Estimator calculates the expected cost of a building or fit-out project before construction begins. Estimators play a key role in helping companies prepare competitive and profitable bids.
Typical responsibilities include:
Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Measuring quantities of materials and labour required.
Requesting and comparing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
Preparing detailed cost estimates and project budgets.
Identifying potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
Preparing tender submissions and bid documents.
Working closely with project managers, designers, and clients.
Monitoring costs and updating estimates if project requirements change.
Skills required:
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Ability to read construction and architectural drawings.
Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
Experience with estimating software (such as CostX, Bluebeam, or Buildsoft).
Good communication and negotiation skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Pay: $7,500.00 – $10,000.00 per month
