In a fast-growing and ever-changing metropolitan municipality, a supportive and facilitative business support service is essential to achieving the Darebin community’s vision of a more equitable, inclusive, vibrant, and connected city.
The Senior Administration Officer (BAPs) plays a key role in this effort by providing high-quality day-to-day customer service and administrative support as part of the Customer and Business Support Unit.
This role is the first point of contact for assisting businesses navigate Council’s process and approvals. The role supports businesses through our Better Approvals Process (BAPs), parklets and outdoor dining applications and a range of other regulatory approvals.

You will:
- Be the first point of contact to assist local businesses.

Provide advice to the public and Council staff on processing business approvals.
- Coordinate advice from internal departments to respond to customer queries.

Contribute to building effective relationships between Council and businesses.
- Problem solve and trouble shoot more complex problems to help businesses thrive.
- Contribute to and identify continuous improvement activities.
About you:

Well-developed customer service skills, conflict resolution skills and a passion for assisting people and achieving on-the-ground outcomes.
- You have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and identify effective solutions.

You love identifying ways to make processes faster and easier to use.
- You have well-developed skills in administrative practice, possibly in the local government sector.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft routine correspondence, compile reports, and liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in the pursuit of departmental objectives.
