About the Academy of Sport
TAFE Queensland's Academy of Sport continues to grow rapidly, now delivering 36 partnerships across Queensland and New South Wales and creating opportunities for approximately 1,000 students each year. The portfolio includes partnerships with organisations such as the Brisbane Broncos, Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast SUNS, Parramatta Eels and Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, among many others across the sporting landscape.
Our education team are leading the way in delivering contextualised, industry-led programs that prepare the next generation of sport professionals through genuine connections to elite and community sport. Our portfolios are among the most innovative in Australia, incorporating deep sporting partnerships, flexible online delivery, exclusive qualifications and unique applied learning experiences that connect students directly with the sport sector.
Students typically learn on site with our sporting partners in high-performance environments, engage directly with industry leaders and practitioners, and gain practical experience through authentic projects, work experience and networking opportunities aligned to the modern sport industry.

Who We're Looking For
We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who:
Bring experience in the sport industry, leadership and/or project management
Have a genuine interest in developing others and sharing knowledge
Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire
Work collaboratively and bring real-world context into learning
Teaching experience is not essential. Suitable candidates may be supported through training and development pathways into education.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must possess a vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed; these could include qualifications like:
BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management
BSB50420 - Diploma of Leadership and Management
SIS50321 Diploma of Sport
Or higher level qualifications in these subject areas.
current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;

Applicants will be required to hold the relevant state-based Working with Children Check, including a Blue Card (Queensland) or Working with Children Check clearance (New South Wales). For further information, please access the relevant state authority websites.
Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or
TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; plus:
TAELLN411 or its successor or TAELLN401A; and
TAEASS502 or its successor or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B; or
A credential issued by a higher education provider which would enable the individual to satisfy the academic requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher and one (1) of the following credentials:
TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor, or
TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor; or
TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set; or
A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education (approved by TAFE Queensland).
Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.
If you have relevant industry experience and the right mindset but don't yet hold the required Training and Assessment qualifications, you may already be closer than you think.
TAFE Queensland may be able to support your transition through structured development, mentoring and the Foundation Educator pathway.

a cover letter (maximum 2 pages) that outlines your experience, skills and abilities and responds to the 'How you will be assessed' criteria.
