We have an opportunity at our Townsville branch for a Field Service Diesel Mechanic (known internally as a Service Technician - Field). A varied role that will see you working on a range of equipment across John Deere Construction, Forestry machinery and Vermeer Equipment.
This field-based role will entail from general service and repairs to major overhauls and new machine assembly.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Field Service Technician, you will:
- Travel to customer sites to diagnose, repair, service and maintain a range of heavy equipment
- Deliver quality workmanship in the field while minimising customer downtime
- Build strong relationships with customers and provide solutions-focused technical support
- Accurately complete service reports, record parts used and capture time worked
- Manage your service vehicle, tools and equipment to ensure they remain safe, organised and well maintained
- Work independently while collaborating closely with the wider service team to deliver outstanding customer outcomes
- Follow all safety requirements and represent RDO Equipment professionally on customer sites
- Contribute to a culture of safety, teamwork, innovation and continuous improvement
You will get the opportunity to work on:
- Graders, Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steers, ADT’s, Dozers
- Vermeer equipment
- Compact Construction Equipment
What We’re Look For someone who:
- Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic or equivalent
- Proven experience servicing, diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment in a field service or workshop environment
- Strong diagnostic, electrical, hydraulic and fault-finding skills
- Experience completing major repairs, rebuilds and engine overhauls
- A current and valid driver's licence
- Excellent communication skills with a strong commitment to customer service
- The ability to work independently, solve problems and manage your time effectively in the field
- A safety-first mindset and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- A positive team-oriented attitude with a focus on delivering quality outcomes for customers
High-risk work licences and tickets will be highly regarded
