Role Overview
MEGP Industries is seeking an experienced Building Associate to join our team on a full-time basis. The role provides on-site technical and coordination support across our construction projects, working closely with Construction Managers, Architects and Surveyors, and reporting to the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Construction Managers, Architects and Surveyors with the planning and organisation of construction projects
- Apply knowledge of relevant plans, building regulations and codes of practice to day-to-day project work
- Develop preliminary sketches, working drawings and technical specifications
- Produce, amend and update plans, maps, charts and drawings as project requirements change
- Coordinate works programs and trade schedules across each stage of the project
- Carry out on-site inspections of work and materials to confirm compliance with specifications, regulations and industry standards
- Estimate construction costs and project timeframes, and assist in monitoring these against budget
- Use surveying instruments and photogrammetric equipment to collect site data
- Perform routine calculations and plot preliminary survey data
- Provide day-to-day supervision of technical staff and trades on site, and coordinate the delivery of materials and plant equipment
- Report progress, risks and compliance matters to the Project Manager
Skills and Experience
- Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Building, Construction, Surveying or a related field.
- At least 2-3 years experience in a building, construction or surveying support role, including site-based coordination
- Working knowledge of Australian building codes, regulations and standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings
