We’re looking for a motivated and collaborative Assistant Director to join our newly established Central Procurement team in the City and Environment Directorate (CED). This is a unique opportunity to shape how procurement, contracts, and grants are delivered across a new directorate focused on creating a more connected, sustainable and liveable Canberra.
In this role, you’ll work with people across the Directorate to deliver practical, high-quality procurement advice and support. You’ll help design and improve processes, uplift capability, and ensure our procurement and grant activities meet legislative requirements while delivering real value for the community.
No two days will be the same—you might be guiding teams through procurement processes, developing tools and templates, supporting new systems, or contributing to initiatives that strengthen performance and outcomes. You’ll be part of a supportive, people-focused team where your ideas are valued and your work will make a visible impact.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Highly Desirable:
- Demonstrated experience in procurement and contract management in an ACT Government (or similar) context;

Relevant qualifications such as the Certificate IV Procurement or Advanced Diploma of Government (Procurement and Contracting).
Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position has moved to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, flexible start, and finish times.
