This role is 3-months Fixed-term
Location: Narngulu Dry Plant & Port Gregory Mine Site
Roster required: Monday to Friday 40hrs per week | 4 days on / 4 days off (9hrs per day)
Residential only - NO FIFO or relocation for this role. GMA will prioritising applicants who have a current right to work in Australia, and do not require GMA sponsorship of a visa.
POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor and Exploration Manager, the Laboratory Field Assistant is responsible for assisting exploration drilling activities and completing analyses of samples.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | EXPLORATION FIELD WORK
· Assist the Exploration geologist with any and all exploration activities as required.
· Sample bag organization, pick up and dispatch.
· Completion of end to end drill program activities from drill hole pegging, sample collection, consumables management and rehabilitation.
· Assist with data entry.
· Attend to miscellaneous requests from Laboratory Supervisor/ Exploration geologist/ Shift Supervisor/ Superintendent/ Mine Manager/ General Manager.
· Conduct regular risk assessments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | LABORATORY
· Maintain a clean and tidy work area
· Collect samples by the appropriate sampling methods
· Conduct regular quality analyses using various laboratory equipment, techniques and methods
· Sampling, sorting and assaying of mine in-fill drilling samples
· Maintain database of all sample details and results, prepare summaries as required
· Attend to miscellaneous requests from Laboratory Supervisor/ Shift Supervisor/ DP Superintendent/ Production Manager/ General Manager
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Completed Year 12 Math, Science and English or experience
· MSL30122 - Certificate III in Laboratory Skills or equivalent qualification is desirable
· Basic understanding of laboratory processes including sampling, analyses, reporting is desirable
· Computer Literacy
o Microsoft office Suite (Inc. Outlook, Excel, Word)
o Online software packages
o Intermediate data entry skills
· Able to lift minimum of 10 kg, capable of physical outdoor work
· Current C class licence as a minimum
· Must be able to pass pre-employment medical and DAS
· Able to work in remote areas and small field teams
