South Western Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Service is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Staff Specialist Psychiatrist in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to join our expanding Youth Mental Health Initiative (Headspace) team based at Oran Park and Campbelltown. You will have the opportunity to shape the service via your clinical leadership and help bridge the gap between ICAMHS and Youth Mental Health Services and Headspace. You will be part of a team of experienced senior clinicians and under the governance of the District iCAMHS service.

What You'll be doing
The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment and clinical leadership to adolescents and young people aged up to 25 years experiencing a range of mental health challenges. Working as part of a senior multidisciplinary team, the Staff Specialist Psychiatrist will provide specialist consultation and evidence-based clinical care, support early intervention and recovery, and work collaboratively with young people, families/carers, GPs, community partners, and other health professionals.The role will also contribute to clinical governance, service development, education and continuous improvement, helping shape responsive mental health services that meet the evolving needs of young people in the local community.
Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.
These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

How to Apply

1. Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award and Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
3. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
4. Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
5. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development.
6. Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level.
7. Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD on-call roster
8. Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team
