Join the NBMLHD Community Counselling Service in a temporary position that provides an excellent entry point into the NSW Health system. This role offers valuable experience, meaningful community impact, and the potential to open doors to longer‑term career opportunities within the organisation. The Community Counselling Service (ComCS) provides accessible and person-centred psychosocial assessment and therapeutic supports to children, families and individuals of all ages across NBMLHD. ComCS plays a key role in supporting early responses to antenatal and postnatal psychosocial concerns, childhood development issues, and domestic and family violence presentations. A broad range of social, emotional and behavioural presentations are responded to utilising a variety of integrated interventions to meet the complex needs of the NBMLHD community.
Utilising a culturally safe approach the Referral Management and Early Response (RMER) Counsellor assesses and responds to incoming service referrals. RMER Counsellors employ a violence and trauma informed lens in conjunction with excellent rapport building skills to perform risk assessments and support clients with complex presentations. RMER Counsellors require excellent task prioritisation, documentation and systems navigation skills to ensure timely and high-quality care plans are established in line with service procedures.
