About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Infrastructure Project Manager, the Infrastructure Project Engineer is responsible for managing the planning, procurement, and delivery of capital infrastructure and engineering projects from concept to completion across ASC’s South Australian and Western Australian sites. These projects are essential to improving the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of ASC’s facilities and infrastructure.
The role provides technical leadership throughout all stages of the project lifecycle, including feasibility assessments, design coordination, contractor engagement, and commissioning. Additionally, the Project Engineer contributes to broader infrastructure planning initiatives and offers technical expertise to support long-term site development strategies.
This position will be based at Osborne, SA.
Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders to define project scope, budgets, and timelines.
- Prepare and submit Business Cases and CAPEX requests
- Develop comprehensive project plans and tender documentation
- Manage the tender process and appoint design consultants and construction contractors
- Oversee project execution, including contractor management and on-site construction activities
- Coordinate project handover, training, and commissioning
- Perform contractor site inductions, permits to work and ensure contractor conformance to ASC OHS policies and external legislative requirements.
About you
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in project engineering or project management, ideally within the Defence Shipbuilding Sector
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure and plant/equipment design, installation, and maintenance within industrial or defence environments
- Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary facility upgrade projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring full legislative and safety compliance
- Strong project management skills, particularly within construction or project engineering contexts
- Ability to interpret organisational needs through effective communication with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Experience in developing project briefs, technical specifications, business cases, delivery schedules, and budget estimates to support planning and execution
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
