The Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre is seeking passionate, enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our team of swimming instructors. Whether you're an experienced instructor or looking to start a rewarding new career, we'd love to hear from you.
This role is ideal for people who enjoy working with children, creating positive learning experiences, and helping young people develop confidence and essential water safety skills. A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in supporting children as they learn an important life skill are key to success in this role.
No prior swim teaching experience? No problem. We provide support and guidance to help you gain the required swim teaching qualifications, making this a great opportunity for students, parents returning to work, career changers, and anyone passionate about making a difference in the community.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Teaching water safety and swimming skills to school groups and individuals
- Creating engaging, safe and inclusive lessons
- Building confidence in children and encouraging lifelong safety habits
- Supporting program delivery and communicating effectively with parents, participants and team members
What You’ll Need (or Be Willing to Obtain)
- Working with Children Check
- HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- National Police Check
Desirable (but not essential)
- Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
- Autism Swim Certification
- Teacher of Infants and Pre-schoolers
- Teacher of Adults
- Teacher of Access and Inclusion
- HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid
- Lifeguard qualification
