Connells Family Bakery is seeking a skilled and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team in Osborne Park.This is a full-time role suited to a qualified Chef with strong practical kitchen experience, sound food safety knowledge, and the ability to help manage the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy bakery-style café kitchen.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of breakfast, lunch, savoury and bakery-style menu items using fresh, quality ingredients. The role also involves assisting with menu planning, stock control, food quality management, kitchen organisation and supervision of food preparation during busy service periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present breakfast, lunch, savoury and bakery-style menu items
- Plan and assist with menu development in consultation with management
- Estimate food and ingredient requirements and assist with ordering stock
- Monitor food quality, portion control, presentation and consistency
- Supervise and coordinate food preparation during service periods
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
- Manage kitchen organisation, daily preparation lists and stock rotation
- Minimise food wastage and assist with cost control
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house and bakery staff to ensure efficient service
- Train or guide junior kitchen staff where required
Skills and Experience Required
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
- At least two years’ relevant commercial kitchen experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures
- Ability to work independently and manage kitchen workflow
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Reliable, professional and calm under pressure
- Available to work weekdays and Saturdays
- Genuine pride in preparing quality food from fresh ingredients
