Primary objective
Provide high-level project coordination and program support for delivery of the Commonwealth-funded Flexible Approach to Training in Expanded
Settings (FATES) project within Oncology Services, including stakeholder engagement, reporting, coordinate educational resource development
and workforce initiatives to support culturally safe oncology training and workforce capability across Central Australia.
Context statement
The Oncology Service at Alice Springs Hospital provides specialist cancer care services across Central Australia, supporting a geographically
dispersed population with a strong focus on Aboriginal and remote health. The service works collaboratively with local, interstate and national
partners to improve access to culturally safe cancer care, education and workforce development opportunities across remote and regional settings.
The FATES project is a Commonwealth-funded initiative aimed at strengthening specialist training, education and workforce capability in regional,
rural and remote Australia. The Central Australian FATES project focuses on development of a remote cancer care competency framework,
culturally safe oncology education resources, mentoring and support programs, and collaborative training initiatives to strengthen sustainable
remote cancer care delivery.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate delivery of the FATES project including monitoring project timelines, milestones, deliverables and funding reporting requirements.
2. Coordinate meetings, workshops, stakeholder consultations, education sessions and project-related events, including preparation of
documentation, logistics and follow-up actions.
3. Coordinate development and dissemination of educational resources, training materials and communication content relevant to remote and
Aboriginal cancer care.
4. Support development and implementation of remote oncology training, mentoring and workforce capability initiatives in collaboration with
clinicians, education providers and partner organisations.
5. Prepare reports, presentations, project updates and other documentation to support project delivery, stakeholder engagement and funding
requirements.
6. Coordinate project communications and stakeholder engagement activities across local, interstate and community partner organisations.
7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinicians, education providers, external organisations, contractors and other
stakeholders to support collaborative project outcomes.
8. Coordinate procurement and administration of project-related contractors, educational providers and external service providers.
9. Maintain accurate project records, databases and information management systems in accordance with organisational requirements.
10. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to
ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
11. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high-level organisational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines
and maintain effective project documentation and reporting processes.
2. Demonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, educational materials and
project documentation.
3. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders,
including senior clinicians, partner organisations and multidisciplinary teams.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative and sound judgement, and contribute effectively within a complex
multidisciplinary environment.
5. Demonstrated experience coordinating workshops, education sessions, stakeholder engagement activities, communications and project-
related events.
6. Demonstrated understanding of culturally appropriate communication and the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people and within
regional and remote health or community settings.
