Are you a freelancer or student in Newcastle (or nearby) looking for flexible, well-paid IT work that fits around your schedule?
Nimble Nerds is a Sydney & Melbourne-based IT support team that regularly gets called on to help multi-state clients. We’re looking for a reliable Level 1–2 Subcontractor in the Newcastle region we can call on when work comes up — especially supporting enterprise locations such as retail stores in Westfields, fast-food restaurants, POS systems, and similar sites.
This is pure contracting work. Perfect if you want to stay independent, pick up hours when they suit you, and earn commissions on top of your time.
What the work looks like
- On-site (and occasional remote) IT support for home users, small businesses, and enterprise sites across the Newcastle region
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, networks, POS systems, amplifiers, and data cabinets
- Working on ladders and using power tools is a regular part of the job
- Explaining solutions in plain, friendly language
- Spotting opportunities to improve a client’s setup (and earning commissions when you do)
- Representing Nimble Nerds with professionalism and patience
We currently see demand for sporadic / on-call work. Hours vary based on client needs — ideal for freelancers and students who want flexibility rather than a fixed roster.
What we offer
- Freedom to accept or decline jobs based on your availability
- Paid travel time
- Fuel card / travel budget (3% of sales) covering fuel, roadside assistance, and even snacks on the road
- Commission on hardware, software, and services you sell
- Work with a tight-knit team that trusts you to manage your own schedule
What you’ll need
- ABN (this is a contracting role)
- Public liability insurance
- Valid driver’s licence and your own vehicle
- Police check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Solid knowledge of Windows, networking basics, and common hardware issues
- Experience with POS systems, amplifiers, and data cabinets is highly valued (these are daily operations for us)
- Comfort working on ladders and using power tools
- Strong communication skills — ability to explain tech without jargon
- Your own basic toolkit (laptop, screwdrivers, adapters, etc.)
Why join us
We’re not just fixing computers — every job plants a tree, and we reinvest into global giving initiatives. You’ll be treated as a trusted independent technician, paid fairly for both your time and your travel, and supported by a professional team when you need it.
If you’re based in Newcastle or nearby and want flexible contractor work supporting multi-state clients (including retail and hospitality sites), send through your resume and a short note about your availability.
