Not Your Average Teaching Gig.
At Music N Me, our goal is simple: champion confidence, curiosity, creativity and connection, one student at a time.
We’re a heart-led, research-backed music school rooted in joy, based in the heart of Mosman. We believe music is so much more than a skill to be learned. It’s a platform to build people from the inside out. And we’re looking for a drum teacher who believes that too.
This isn’t a fill-the-hours role. It’s a chance to genuinely matter to the students you teach.
About the Role
We're looking for a passionate drum teacher to join our crew as a subcontractor. You'll teach/mentor students of all ages and levels, across 1:1 lessons and our group drum program.
Our band program is a big part of what we do - where students learn to play together, listen to each other, and discover what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. We also run workshops and excursions that take music beyond the lesson room and into the world. Collaborative learning is at the heart of everything here.
Working at MNM is genuinely something special. We're progressive, innovative and fun. And that energy runs through everything we do.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You’ll plan and teach bespoke lessons tailored to each student’s goals and learning style.
- You’ll explore styles together, rock, pop, jazz, whatever lights your students up.
- Where relevant, you'll help students prepare for performances and/or exams.
- You’ll be a warm, energising presence in the studio.
- You'll contribute to team huddles and collaborate with our principal to shape the drums curriculum.
- You’ll also be part of the bigger moments - showcases, workshops, and everything that makes MNM feel like more than just a lesson.
You’re the One If...
- You genuinely adore working with people of all ages and find no greater buzz than watching a student’s confidence grow.
- You understand that real learning happens when students feel safe, seen and connected to their teacher. and you build that kind of trust naturally.
- You’re warm and approachable. Students and parents feel like part of the family from day one because you make it that way.
- You come prepared. You love a well-planned lesson, because you know that great preparation is what makes space for magic in the moment.
- You can read the room. You leave your own agenda at the door and meet each student exactly where they are. Your energy is contagious and your students mirror it straight back.
- You’re a team player. At MNM, we lift each other up. You’re generous, collaborative, and you genuinely care about the people you work alongside because you understand that the culture of a studio is built by every single person in it.
- And most importantly, you believe music changes lives. Not as a line on a resume. As something you feel in everything you do.
The Essentials
- You have proven experience teaching drums across different ages and levels.
- You have a strong feel for various styles and techniques.
- You have the communication skills to connect, not just instruct.
- Music qualifications are great, but the right heart and experience matter most.
- You’ll need a current Working with Children Check (or be willing to get one).
- You have Australian work authorisation.
What You’ll Get
- You’ll have an immediate start with existing students ready and waiting.
- Competitive teaching rates (superannuation included) based on your experience.
- Administration work (eg. lesson planning, prep, parent comms) is paid on top of teaching rate.
- Be part of a community/school that has been growing together, with real loyalty and heart for over a decade.
- Be part of a creative, warm, close-knit studio culture where you’re genuinely valued.
