About the Patient Safety and Clinical Excellence Division
The Patient Safety and Clinical Excellence Division is located within the Directorate of the Chief Medical Officer and provides leadership and oversight of systems and processes that enable the delivery of safe, effective and appropriate care for our patients. The Division is made up of the Patient Safety Unit, Patient Experience Unit and Clinical Excellence Unit.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Excellence Lead to join the Patient Safety and Clinical Excellence Division at Austin Health.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to organisation-wide quality improvement initiatives and support Austin Health's commitment to delivering safe, effective and person-centred care. Working within a collaborative and high-performing division, you will play a key role in strengthening clinical governance, leading standards improvement activities and supporting accreditation readiness across the organisation.
While the position supports organisation-wide clinical governance and accreditation activities, the primary focus of the role is leading and coordinating improvement initiatives related to Standard 3: Preventing and Controlling Infections under the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. The role works closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team, clinical leaders and operational stakeholders to strengthen systems, drive sustainable improvement and support best-practice care across the organisation.
You will join the Patient Safety and Clinical Excellence Division, a supportive and high-performing division that leads quality, safety, accreditation, patient experience and clinical governance initiatives across Austin Health.
You will:
- Lead standards improvement and accreditation activities, with a primary focus on Standard 3: Preventing and Controlling Infections.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and operational teams to drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate assessments, audits, reporting and evidence collection.
- Analyse data and use findings to support improvements in patient care and outcomes.
- Support implementation of the Clinical Governance Framework and continuous improvement across the organisation.
About you
You are a healthcare professional with experience in quality improvement, clinical governance, accreditation or patient safety. You have a strong understanding of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and enjoy working collaboratively to drive meaningful improvement.
You will bring:
- Clinical experience within a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of quality improvement and clinical governance principles.
- Experience supporting accreditation or standards improvement activities.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and report-writing abilities.
- A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
