PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To provide technical expertise in the planning, analysis and development of the electricity network to ensure it remains safe, reliable, compliant and
capable of meeting current and future network requirements. Deliver accurate power-system modelling, forecasting, planning studies and regulatory
inputs to support informed network investment, connection, augmentation and operational decisions.
The “WHAT” to be delivered
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure network compliance with regulations and codes that meet Australia Energy Regulator and Utilities Commission requirements:
o Annual Information Notice (AIN)
o Transmission Distribution Annual Planning Report (TDAPR)
o Power System Review (PSR)
- Assist with developing and maintaining the ratings databases such as power transformer cyclic ratings, transmission line ratings and
distribution feeder ratings.
- Support and progressively lead PowerFactory model governance and TDAPR delivery coordination, including data requests, licence
management, process improvement and model rectification projects.
- Support with load forecasting for distribution feeders, Zone Substations and Subtransmission Substations such as calculating actual maximum
and minimum demands and the forecast values.
- Collaboration and use of computer software to study and advise on engineering matters such as transformer and underground cable ratings
and use master computer models to generate project specific models for distribution system analysis. Analyse results supporting
recommendations regarding network planning, augmentation, design and power system operations.
- Support Senior Engineers in the completion of power system studies such as load flow studies, fault levels using computer simulation software
such as PSS/SINCAL and PowerFactory and assist in preparation of business cases for Capex projects.
- Write technical planning reports.
- Work in partnership on power system network connection studies for new generators, loads and renewables.
- Carry out duties in accordance with Power and Water's safety and environmental policy, safety principles, corporate values
and behaviours.
