Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will work under the supervision and direction of our Senior Civil Engineers and be responsible for preparing detailed civil engineering drawings, plans and technical documentation for a range of infrastructure and development projects.
Working closely with engineers and project stakeholders, the role involves producing accurate CAD drawings, construction documentation, design schedules and technical plans to support the delivery of civil engineering projects. The position requires strong drafting skills, attention to detail and a sound understanding of Australian engineering drafting standards and documentation requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed civil engineering sketches, working drawings, technical plans, layouts and design documentation for drainage systems, water supply networks, sewerage reticulation, roadworks, subdivisions and general civil structures.
- Produce CAD drawings, design layouts, tabulations and technical data sheets in compliance with Australian engineering standards, council requirements and project specifications.
- Interpret civil engineering design briefs, consultant instructions and project drawings to prepare accurate drafting documentation, technical drawings and project deliverables.
- Actively assist engineers by preparing and updating drafting documentation, incorporating engineering design information into drawings, compiling project data and processing drawing amendments for civil infrastructure projects.
- Prepare design schedules, material schedules and technical documentation for tender, construction and council submission purposes.
- Review and revise civil drawings to ensure compliance with Australian regulations, project specifications and contract requirements.
- Provide drafting and documentation support for project delivery, coordinate drawing revisions and maintain accurate project drawing registers.
- Liaise with engineers, surveyors, contractors and local authorities to finalise design drawings and documentation packages.
- Assist with BIM modelling documentation and coordination of drafting outputs where required.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Design or a closely related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in civil engineering drafting and preparation of technical documentation for civil infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other relevant drafting and design software.
- Demonstrated experience preparing drawings for roads, drainage, water, sewerage, subdivision and civil infrastructure projects.
- Sound understanding of Australian Standards, engineering drafting practices and local authority submission requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering designs, survey information and technical specifications.
- Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings and documentation in accordance with drafting standards and project requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation.
- Effective organisational, communication and time-management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
