Already have some administration experience and ready to turn it into a qualification and career?
We’re looking for an organised and capable administrator to build on their existing skills while completing a nationally recognised qualification and expanding their on the job experience with Council’s property team.
This two year traineeship would suit someone who has already gained some practical administration or customer service experience and is ready for their next step — whether you’ve worked in an office, customer service environment or another role where being organised, accurate and responsive matters.
You’ll join a busy team where you can contribute from day one, while developing your knowledge and experience across Council’s property operations and working towards a Certificate III in Business Administration or Certificate IV in Local Government.
What we will offer you:
-
Above award rates! Commencing salary of $1,721.00 gross per fortnight plus superannuation (at 18 years of age or older), varying rates subject to age and experience as per award provisions.
-
A flexible 35 hour work week with 3 hours paid study time each week.
-
A supportive team environment with experienced mentors.
-
The opportunity to build a strong foundation for your future career
Your new role:
Working alongside the Property team, you’ll provide practical administrative and business support across a variety of functions, including:
- Data entry, records and document management.
- Preparing correspondence and maintaining accurate information across Council systems.
- Responding to customer enquiries and providing professional frontline support.
- Coordinating meetings, agendas and minutes.
- Assisting with purchasing, reconciliations, diary management and other day-to-day administration.
- Supporting business and performance planning activities.
- Maintaining registers and administrative systems associated with Council’s property portfolio.
Who we’re looking for:
You might already be working in an administration, reception or customer service role and looking for an opportunity to formalise your experience, gain a qualification and broaden your skills.
You’ll be someone who:
- Has some previous administration and/or customer service experience.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new systems.
- Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right.
- Can organise their workload and keep things moving without needing constant direction.
- Communicates professionally and works well with different people.
- Takes initiative, follows through and is willing to jump in and help the team.
- Is keen to learn more and develop a career in business administration.
You don’t need previous experience in property or local government. What’s more important is bringing a solid administrative foundation, a willingness to learn and the confidence to contribute from the outset.
Build on what you already know
This traineeship gives you the best of both worlds — the opportunity to use the skills you already have while gaining structured development, practical experience and a nationally recognised qualification.
If you’re ready to take your administration experience to the next level and want to learn within a supportive, professional team, we’d love to hear from you.
