About the Role
The ICT System Administrator is responsible for ensuring the ongoing administration, reliability and continuous improvement of Catholic Education Ballarat’s core ICT systems, infrastructure and security platforms.
This role provides high-level technical support and works collaboratively with schools and internal teams to deliver innovative, secure and efficient ICT solutions. It also offers a strong professional development pathway, with opportunities to build advanced systems administration capability through mentoring and hands-on experience.
Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:-
- Providing high-quality third-level ICT support across diverse devices, systems and locations
- Collaborating with school staff to design ICT solutions and assist with troubleshooting (remote and onsite)
- Administering and maintaining core systems including Microsoft 365, Google Cloud and hosted applications
- Supporting hardware infrastructure including servers, networks, wireless systems, CCTV and firewall/routing systems
- Monitoring and managing ICT security and cyber safety systems
- Maintaining system functionality and uptime in line with business continuity requirements
- Assisting with procurement and recommendations of ICT equipment
- Working collaboratively with the ICT & Cybersecurity Manager and broader ICT team on solution design and improvements
- Supporting SIMON LMS in partnership with school and support teams
- Managing competing priorities and resolving support requests efficiently
- Building technical capability through professional learning and exposure to systems administration

Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Education and to the safety, wellbeing and protection of children
- Relevant qualifications and experience in Information Technology (Diploma, Degree or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in a System Administrator or Senior Technical Support role
- Strong technical knowledge across Microsoft, Apple and/or Linux environments
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, cloud and network infrastructure
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and within a team
- A commitment to continuous professional learning and development
