About the Role
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility based in Western Sydney.
This role will suit a hands-on Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Technician with experience working across production lines, packaging equipment, and automated machinery within a GMP-regulated environment such as pharmaceutical, food, or FMCG manufacturing.
You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM/PPM) on manufacturing and packaging equipment
- Carry out mechanical repairs on production machinery, conveyors, mixers, and filling lines
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults across automated equipment
- Respond to breakdowns and unplanned maintenance in a fast-paced production environment
- Work on gearboxes, pumps, valves, motors, bearings, and pneumatic systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine efficiency and uptime
- Assist with equipment installation, upgrades, and commissioning
- Ensure all maintenance work aligns with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards
- Accurately complete maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation
Skills & Experience (Keywords for Indeed Search)
- Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner / Maintenance Technician
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, food manufacturing, FMCG, or packaging environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in:
- Conveyors, filling machines, capping machines, labelling machines
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Gearboxes, pumps, motors, bearings
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems (CMMS)
- Understanding of GMP, HACCP, or ISO standards
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
- Basic electrical fault finding (desirable but not essential)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
Desirable Experience
- Experience in high-speed packaging lines
- Exposure to PLC-controlled equipment (fault finding only)
- Experience working in TGA/FDA regulated environments
- Mandarin Speaking
