In this part-time role (24 hrs per week - 2 shifts every alternative Friday + Saturday after hours shift at Youth Hub), you’ll engage children and young people through the Youth Hub and Night Patrol providing assertive outreach in community settings to create safe, accessible pathways for them to receive support. The role involves responding to immediate needs through crisis intervention, safety planning and emotional support, particularly where young people are experiencing family conflict, homelessness, mental health concerns, social isolation or other instability. A key part of the position is individual case management, including goal setting, needs assessment, action planning, referrals and supported links to services across housing, health, education, employment, life skills and social connection.
You will make a difference by:
- Working as part of the Youth Hub program activities and Night Patrol in a community setting in Kununurra
- Providing activity-based groupwork, one-on-one engagement and individual case management support where needed
- Building meaningful, respectful connections with children and young people, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds
- Ensuring quality service delivery in-line with program guidelines, contractual requirements and stakeholder expectations
- Seeing opportunities to connect children and young people with appropriate support services as needed
- Consulting with local communities, professionals, service providers and referral services to ensure our services are meeting local needs

You’re truly passionate about standing up for children and young people. You respond calmly to crisis situations, and your background is in Youth Work, Social Work, or a similar field. Your thorough understanding of the impacts of trauma, coupled with your communication and relationship building skills, will enable you to build connections to support children and young people to lead a brighter future.
Bringing your best every day means having:
- Demonstrated experience in working with children, young people and families who have experienced trauma, and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and families
- Certificate or Diploma in Youth Work, or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience
- Experience in facilitating group-based service delivery and working one-on-one
- High level of communication and organisational skills
- Driver’s licence
