About the role
As the Manager, Capital Support & Advisory, you will lead the delivery of high-quality capital budget management advice and support to the Department's divisions and regional offices. Working collaboratively across Finance, you will ensure stakeholders have the knowledge, guidance and capability to effectively manage capital budgets while aligning with departmental policies, frameworks and financial management requirements.
In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee management accounting services, including budget development, forecasting, monitoring and financial analysis. You will lead the preparation of executive financial reporting and dashboards, provide evidence-based insights to support business decisions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen capital budget management across the Department. You will also play a key role in resolving complex financial issues, implementing new ways of working and supporting financial management reform.

About you
You are a collaborative and influential finance leader with extensive experience providing strategic financial advice in complex environments. You enjoy building trusted relationships, leading teams through change and translating complex financial information into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Extensive experience providing strategic financial management advice, management accounting services and/or capital works financial support.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading teams, driving capability uplift and fostering a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
- Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, reporting and executive financial presentations.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships across diverse business areas.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and supporting organisational change within complex environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical recommendations on complex financial matters.
Key knowledge and experience
- Extensive experience in providing strategic advice and support services to stakeholders relating to financial management and/or Capital works.
- Extensive experience in building strong relationships with key stakeholders in developing and implementing change initiatives
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
