Computer Hardware Technician (Refurbishment) – Onsite | North Rocks

We are looking for a Computer Hardware Technician to join our refurbishment operation at Computer and Laptop Sales.
This is a purely hands-on, bench-based role focused on hardware repair, refurbishment, and testing of laptops and desktops.
This is not a helpdesk, remote support, or customer-facing role.
Key ResponsibilitiesHardware Diagnostics & Repair
- Diagnose hardware faults on laptops and desktops at component level
- Perform full disassembly and reassembly of devices
- Replace and repair components including:
- Motherboards
- RAM
- SSD / HDD
- Batteries
- Screens
- Keyboards (including full assemblies)
- Identify root causes of failures, not just part replacement
- Troubleshoot issues across hardware and operating systems
Refurbishment & Build Process
- Prepare devices for resale through structured refurbishment processes
- Install operating systems, drivers, and required software
- Perform upgrades (RAM, SSD, etc.)
- Conduct full QA testing and stress testing
- Ensure all devices meet functional and cosmetic standards
Data Wiping & Compliance
- Perform secure data wiping following strict internal processes
- Maintain accurate wipe logs and documentation
- Ensure compliance with data security standards
Inventory Handling
- Track devices from intake through refurbishment stages
- Process incoming hardware from collections
- Maintain accurate asset records and tracking
Must-Have Requirements
- Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in computer hardware repair
- Proven experience replacing:
- Laptop screens
- Keyboards
- Motherboards
- Ability to fully disassemble and reassemble laptops without damage
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and OS issues
- Experience installing Windows and drivers after repair
- Comfortable working in a bench/warehouse environment
- Available onsite in North Rocks
- Available 3–5 days per week (including weekends)
Preferred
- Experience in refurbishment / resale / ITAD environments
- Understanding of secure data wiping processes
- Basic inventory or asset tracking experience
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
