Our Kitchen is a key part of the Taproom experience, serving a simple, quality-focused menu of pizza, schnitzels, snacks and specials designed to pair perfectly with our beers.
About the Role
We are looking for two cooks. One Cook/Supervisor to lead the team, and one expericend Cook. You'll both be part of the launch of our new pizza and schintzel menu. We’re looking for reliable, hands-on, Cooks / Kitchen Supervisor to join our team. You’ll both be responsible for preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard, while also helping manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen. As well as cooking, the Cook/Supervisor will be involved in ordering stock, managing kitchen supplies, maintaining food quality and cleanliness, and ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently during service. You’ll be comfortable working independently, taking responsibility for the kitchen and helping create a positive, organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook menu items including pizza, schnitzels, chacuterie boards, sides, specials and a canape menu for functions.
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard
- Work efficiently during busy service periods
- Follow recipes, portion controls and food presentation standards
- Cater to dietary requirements and allergen requests appropriately
- Assist with menu specials and new dish ideas where appropriate
Kitchen Management
- Take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Organise prep and kitchen duties before, during and after service
- Monitor stock levels and place food and kitchen supply orders
- Receive and correctly store deliveries
- Minimise food waste and monitor portion control
- Ensure fridges, freezers and dry stores are clean, organised and appropriately stocked
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report any issues promptly
Food Safety & Cleanliness
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety at all times
- Follow food safety procedures and temperature controls
- Ensure cleaning schedules and kitchen duties are completed
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen throughout service
- Follow all relevant food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
Teamwork
- Work closely with the venue and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service
- Communicate clearly with staff during busy periods
- Help train and support other kitchen team members where required
- Contribute to a positive and respectful team environment
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous commercial kitchen or cooking experience
- Is confident cooking independently and managing a kitchen during service
- Has experience with pizza and/or schnitzel preparation, or is keen to learn
- Is organised and able to stay calm under pressure
- Has good communication skills and works well as part of a small team
- Takes pride in food quality and presentation
- Has a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Is reliable, punctual and takes ownership of their responsibilities
- Is comfortable with ordering, stock management and general kitchen administration
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys working in a busy, community-focused hospitality venue

Requirements
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate - preferred
- Food Handling certificate
- Previous commercial kitchen experience
- Availability to work weekends and evenings
- Valid Australian working rights
