Project-Based Role Supporting the Delivery of a Major Canberra Construction Project
Intravision is seeking an experienced WHS Coordinator to join our team on a major construction project in Canberra. Working closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, subcontractors, and the principal contractor, you will play a key role in ensuring the project is delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with all WHS obligations. This is a hands-on site-based position focused on safety compliance, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and supporting a positive safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Project Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Risk Management

Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks, and compliance reviews.
- Monitor and verify compliance with WHS legislation, client requirements, and company procedures.
- Review and maintain Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Risk Assessments, and project safety documentation.
- Ensure workers are inducted into approved SWMS and safe work practices.
Project Safety Coordination

Maintain Site Specific Safety Management Plans (SSSMPs) and project safety records.
- Coordinate permits, licences, training records, plant registers, and competency documentation.
- Support project mobilisation activities, inductions, SWMS reviews, and site establishment requirements.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and follow up corrective actions.
Audits, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Conduct audits and inspections against project and principal contractor requirements.
- Support incident investigations, hazard reporting, and corrective action management.
- Track and report safety performance indicators, inspections, observations, and incident trends.
- Assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
Stakeholder Engagement

Participate in toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and safety briefings.
- Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, client representatives, and principal contractor safety personnel.
- Provide practical guidance on risk management, critical controls, and safe work practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture through positive engagement and workforce consultation.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
-
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum).
- Previous experience in a WHS Coordinator, Safety Coordinator, or Safety Advisor role.
- Experience working on construction, telecommunications, infrastructure, or civil projects.
- Sound understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, SWMS, and incident management processes.
- Current Drivers Licence and Construction Industry White Card, Asbestos Awareness, Work Safely with Asbestos Containing Materials, Silica Awareness, and EWP ticket.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, safety management systems, and client portals.
- NV1 Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is desirable.
