About the Role
In this hands-on leadership role as Head Chef, you will oversee all aspects of the dining experience, meal service delivery and meal production, ensuring meals are prepared and delivered safely. You will play a pivotal role in managing the satisfaction of our residents by leading and mentoring kitchen staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading daily kitchen operations and ensuring compliance with Food Safety Plans, hygiene regulations, OHS&E requirements and aged care standards.
- Preparing, cooking and serving nutritious meals and mid-meals, including special diets tailored to individual resident care plans and preferences.
- Catering for a range of dietary requirements including diabetic, gluten-free, coeliac, high-protein and low-protein diets in consultation with dietitians and nursing staff.
- Managing food ordering, deliveries, stock control, storage, kitchen budgets and minimising food wastage.
- Supervising, rostering, training and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring safe operation of kitchen equipment and ongoing capability development.
- Engaging with residents, families and colleagues to deliver an exceptional dining experience and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, portion control and customer service.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (essential).
- Food Handling & Hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in aged care, hospital, or commercial catering (highly regarded).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise, work independently, and support a team.
- Valid working rights in Australia (Passport, Birth Certificate, Visa etc.).
- Ability to complete a National Police Check and/or an NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain) prior to commencement.
