Project Engineer — Job Description
Summary
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing engineering projects to ensure they meet technical, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Project planning: Develop project scope, objectives, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Design coordination: Liaise with design engineers and architects to review and approve drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Technical oversight: Ensure technical solutions meet requirements; perform calculations, design reviews, and engineering checks as needed.
- Procurement support: Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendor quotations, and support purchase orders and equipment selection.
- Construction/implementation support: Supervise contractors and installation teams, resolve site technical issues, and ensure work follows drawings and codes.
- Schedule and cost control: Monitor progress vs. baseline schedule and budget, track change orders, and report variances.
- Quality assurance: Implement QA/QC procedures, review inspection/test plans, and ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
- Risk management: Identify technical and schedule risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Reporting &* documentation:* Prepare regular progress reports, maintain project documentation, drawings revisions, and as-built records.
- Stakeholder communication: Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and internal teams; attend meetings and present project status.
- Commissioning &* handover:* Support testing, commissioning, troubleshoot systems, and provide technical documentation and training for handover.
- Health, safety &* environment:* Promote safe work practices, ensure compliance with HSE policies, and participate in incident investigations.
Qualifications & skills
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant discipline).
- Typically 3–8 years of relevant project engineering or construction experience (adjustable by level: entry, mid, senior).
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, codes, standards, and construction practices.
- Project management skills; familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Proficiency with engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, CAE tools) and Microsoft Office.
- Budgeting, cost control, and contract administration experience.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Professional certification preferred (e.g., PMP, PE, CEng) where applicable.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work in the field as required.
Pay: $8,436.80 – $10,417.13 per month
