Role and Responsibilities
The business understands the need for the position and confirms a highly specialized person is required to undertake the daily tasks and duties of a Chef. The position is a full-time position and requires the person to possess the following qualities:
- Responsible for long- and short-term planning and day-to-day operations of the kitchen and related areas.
- Plan menu and procedural changes. Recommends the budget and manages food and labour costs within approved budget constraints.
- Plan and manage the kitchen staff in the procurement, preparation and presentation of all food for the restaurant in a safe, sanitary work environment which conforms to all standards and regulations.
- To oversee the restaurant, bar, room service and conference operations.
- To ensure sufficient staff development opportunities.
- To strive for greater profitability.
- Occasionally takes on extra duties, such as cleaning, when the kitchen is short-staffed, or the restaurant is particularly busy
- Achieving profitable, quality products and also to provide an efficient and cost-effective food service to the establishment.
- Proactive in maintaining health and safety standards with a clear understanding of HACCP.
- Preparing to invest time in training and developing team.
Qualifications
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
- 3+ years’ experience as a Chef
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Dedicated to food quality and control
- Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
The job may involve weekend work especially during events and functions. This role is not a 9am – 5pm job as it requires being hands on whenever the business need arises. Hard work will be remunerated with excellent incentive programs.
