The Role
We're looking for an experienced Sous Chef to support our Executive Chef and Head Chef in delivering exceptional events through strong kitchen leadership, quality execution and attention to detail.
This is a hands-on role focused on leading daily prep, coordinating event pack-outs, mentoring junior chefs and ensuring every event leaves the kitchen organised, consistent and ready for service.
You'll be confident running the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, leading small teams and thriving in a fast-paced events environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen prep and coordinate production for upcoming events.
- Prepare and maintain prep lists in collaboration with the Head Chef.
- Coordinate event pack-outs and ensure all equipment and food are prepared accurately.
- Lead kitchen teams during onsite and offsite events.
- Train, mentor and support junior chefs, casuals and contractors.
- Maintain quality control, recipe consistency and portion standards.
- Ensure food safety documentation and daily compliance records are completed accurately.
- Assist with stock takes, ordering and inventory management.
- Check deliveries and report any discrepancies.
- Execute live-fire cooking across a variety of venues and event locations.
- Assist with preservation programs including curing, fermenting, smoking and pickling.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional kitchen environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
