Granger Mechanical Repairs Pty Ltd (GMR) is a well-established service provider to the mining, rural and civil industries across Central Queensland. GMR provides mechanical repair, maintenance, rebuild and technical support services for light and heavy equipment, with a strong reputation for safety, customer service and quality workmanship.
We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our maintenance team. This role will support the inspection, testing, repair, rebuild and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and lubrication systems used across heavy equipment and related machinery.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Inspecting, testing and diagnosing faults in mechanical, hydraulic and lubrication systems.
- Assisting with the repair, rebuild, assembly and installation of mechanical components and equipment.
- Using diagnostic equipment, technical drawings and manuals to identify faults and support repair work.
- Preparing inspection reports, test records, service schedules and maintenance documentation.
- Assisting with CAD drawings and technical diagrams for components, repairs and modifications.
- Collecting and reviewing repair, fault and performance data to identify recurring issues.
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and manufacturers regarding technical issues, repair findings and service requirements.
- Supporting QA and QC processes to ensure work is completed to specifications, standards and customer requirements.
- Maintaining technical files, service records and workshop documentation.
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with workplace procedures.
The successful applicant will have:
- Relevant Diploma or higher-level qualifications in mechanical engineering technology, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of relevant experience in a Mechanical Engineering Technician or closely related role.
- Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, mining, civil, rural, heavy vehicle or mobile plant equipment.
- Caterpillar and Komatsu experience highly regarded.
- Competency using CAD or equivalent technical drawing software.
- Competency using Microsoft Office and maintenance documentation systems.
- Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematic diagrams and equipment manuals.
- Strong focus on safety, quality and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
Highly regarded attributes:
- Full Queensland driver licence, with HR licence preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Standard 11, or willingness to obtain.
- Coal Board Medical, or willingness to obtain.
- High Risk Work licences, including working at heights, elevated work platform or forklift, or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to travel to customer or project sites from time to time.
