Position: Panel Beater / Spray PainterAbout the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Panel Beater / Spray Painter to join our automotive repair team. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing, restoring, and refinishing vehicles to a high standard, ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and customer satisfaction requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Panel Beating Duties
- Assess vehicle damage and determine the required repair methods.
- Remove damaged panels and repair or replace vehicle body components.
- Straighten vehicle frames and body structures using appropriate equipment.
- Weld, cut, and fabricate metal panels where required.
- Repair dents, scratches, and collision damage to manufacturer standards.
- Reassemble vehicle components and ensure proper fit and finish.
Spray Painting Duties
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning.
- Mix paints and colour-match finishes accurately.
- Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats using spray-painting equipment.
- Perform touch-ups and refinishing work to achieve high-quality finishes.
- Polish and detail painted surfaces to meet customer and company standards.
- Maintain spray booths, painting equipment, and tools in accordance with safety requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Conduct quality inspections before releasing vehicles.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
- Follow workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Accurately complete job cards, repair records, and related documentation.
- Work collaboratively with workshop managers, technicians, and other staff.
- Ensure all repairs are completed within agreed timeframes.
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Panel Beater and/or Spray Painter.
- Relevant trade qualification or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques and paint systems.
- Ability to use panel repair and spray-painting equipment safely and effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current driver's licence preferred.
Desirable Qualifications
- Trade certification in Automotive Body Repair Technology or Spray Painting.
- Experience with modern paint-matching systems and equipment.
- Experience working with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within the automotive industry.
