The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is an inner eastern metropolitan Council, nestled on the outskirts of the CBD. The area enjoys a reputation as one of Adelaide’s most desirable places to live, work, study and visit.
An exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Accounting Professional who can communicate on all management levels to join the Chief Executive’s Office on a permanent full-time basis and contribute to the excellence in the Council’s finance service delivery.
The Role
Reporting to the Council’s Chief Financial Officer and working with the Finance Unit and across the organisation, you will deliver strategic financial outcomes associated with the organisation’s financial management and budget. This role will provide high-quality financial advice, financial modelling, accounting services, financial business improvements and support across the organisation.
The Finance Business Partner will act as a conduit between the Finance Unit and the broader organisation, with responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Delivering strategies and goals related to financial performance of the Business Units
- Assisting in coordinating budgeting and forecasting
- Preparing relevant financial reports
- Undertaking financial analysis
- Identifying business improvement opportunities
- Providing financial advice
In addition, you will also be required to assist in preparing Council’s annual budget and provide advice as well as prepare budget reports for the Executive Leadership Team as requested.
About You
To be successful in this position you will be a professional individual who is a proactive team player and who takes pride in their work. You will possess the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary Qualification in Finance, Accounting (Essential)
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in a Finance or Accounting related position
- Ability to identify and resolve issues in a proactive manner
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS office
- Financial modelling skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Permanent Australian Residency or Australian Citizenship is essential
- Experience in Local Government will be advantageous but is not essential
