About the Opportunity
As the MCS Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role in driving risk management across critical sustainment programs, partnering with senior leaders to identify opportunities, minimise threats, and support informed decision-making. Leading a dedicated risk team, you will champion strategic, operational, program and project risk activities, strengthen governance frameworks, and foster a culture of proactive risk management across the business. Responsibilities
- Lead and embed a proactive risk management culture across MCS programs, ensuring alignment with the ASC Risk Management Framework and program governance requirements.
- Facilitate risk workshops, reviews, and reporting activities to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate strategic, operational, program, and project risks.
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and consolidation of risk registers, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and effective risk visibility across the business.
- Provide expert risk advice, training, coaching, and guidance to leaders and teams to strengthen risk management capability and informed decision-making.
- Deliver high-quality risk reporting and insights to senior leadership, Board Committees, and customers, including Key Risk Indicator (KRI) monitoring and analysis.
- Maintain and enhance risk management systems, dashboards, and reporting tools to support effective governance and risk-based decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with commercial, legislative, regulatory, and internal policy obligations through effective controls, governance frameworks, and assurance activities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing risk team while fostering strong stakeholder relationships across programs, executive leadership, and the wider business.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business Administration, Project Management or Engineering.
- Risk Management certifications and a minimum of five years Risk Management experience.
- Proven experience as a Risk Management professional, with a strong track record of leading enterprise, program, project, compliance and business continuity risk activities within complex organisations.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, with the ability to build, mentor and develop high-performing teams while fostering a positive, accountable and collaborative culture.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across senior leadership, customers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and risk reporting capabilities, including the ability to distil complex risk information into clear, meaningful insights for executive and board-level audiences.
- Experience using risk management systems and tools, with Predict software proficiency highly regarded.
- Defence industry experience and an understanding of defence program environments will be highly advantageous, although candidates from other complex, highly regulated industries such as, heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining or mineral are also encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
